CMI Media Group’s Melissa Giordano on advocating for women who are not in the room

At SXSW, The Current Podcast partnered with The Female Quotient to spotlight trailblazing women in media and marketing to mark International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
In this episode, we sit down with Melissa Giordano, chief client officer at CMI Media Group, to discuss how AI data and personalized messaging are reshaping health care marketing.
With a career dedicated to making meaningful connections between brands and health care professionals, Giordano highlights a pivotal campaign that expanded outreach to an often-overlooked audience: nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
These people are on the front line, she says. “[They’re] the ones seeing patients for the first time … and they need to find out what treatment options are available,” she explains.
By recognizing the value of engaging this audience, her team helped drive better patient outcomes while maximizing brand impact.
Beyond marketing strategy, Giordano reflects on her experience as a woman in leadership and the importance of lifting others up.
“Advocate for other women who are not in the room whenever you have an opportunity to do so,” she advises. She also shares the career advice that has guided her most, including the words of CMI Media Group CEO Susan Dorfman: “Do right over being right.”
